Digital Media Lab Activities

Audio and Video Recording and Editing

Equipped with a video camera, green screen, lights, microphones, and sound-dampening padding, our Digital Media Lab is a great place to record and edit your audio and video footage.

Photo and Video Digitization

Convert your old slides and negatives to digital photos, and convert VHS, super-8, and 8mm video to DVD or digital video. Price: $3.00 per DVD. There is no cost for converting to digital video. Please bring a USB thumb drive or portable hard drive to save your video files.

  • The Digital Media Lab will be open:
    • Monday – Thursday 10:00am – 8:00pm
    • Friday & Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm
  • The Digital Media Lab will be locked at all times.
  • You must be “Certified” (trained) for use of the Lab/Equipment and successfully complete the training and show the ability to independently use the Lab/Equipment before being allowed to check it out for use.
  • If you will not be using any equipment you may be eligible for a shortened training.
  • A valid CCLD/STLS library card is required to use the Digital Media Lab.
  • Patrons 14 years and older may use the room independently after successful certification.
    Anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Two hour reservations may be made by contacting the Reference Desk (in person or by calling 607-733-9173 x4). Reservations may also be extended at the Reference Desk.
  • Patrons must check in at the Reference Desk with photo ID and their library card to borrow equipment. IDs will be kept and returned after your session is over.
  • A maximum of four (4) people are allowed in the Lab at any given time.
  • Patrons must save their work on an external memory source – External hard drive, CD, DVD, or Flash drive. (CDs, DVDs and Flash Drives are sold at the Reference Desk)
  • Notify a staff member immediately if any equipment in the Lab is not working properly, otherwise you may be responsible for any damages.
  • Only the following equipment may be moved:
    • Camera tripod
    • Microphone stands
  • If a piece of equipment is in the way, please ask a staff member for assistance.
  • Turn off the Lab computer and tidy space when finished.
  • When finished, return all borrowed equipment to the Reference Desk.
  • Collect your picture ID upon clearance of the room by the CCLD Staff member.
  • All CCLD Computer Use Policies and Behavior Guidelines apply in the Lab.
  • No pornographic or semi-nude images of any kind will be permitted. Failure to comply will result in removal from the premises and banning from the library for 6 months.
  • No food or drinks of any kind are permitted in the Lab.
  • This Lab is monitored and recorded by security cameras.
