The Postwar years brought a population boom to Horseheads, NY and 4 different addresses for the Horseheads Library in 18 years. According to the 1940 United States Federal Census, the Town of Horseheads had a population of 8,804.
The year is 1962: the Cuban Missile Crisis brought the world close to nuclear annihilation, John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth, and Sam Walton opened the first Wal-Mart in Arkansas.
2023 is a big year for the Van Etten Library. Since 1923, Van Etten residents have been receiving library services, starting with a simple book station in a neighboring town, to the current location on Gee Street.
